If the Orlanthi spend too much time in their petty feuds, doing little to check the spread of Chaos and death, others will certainly take advantage of the distraction.

He saw strangely attired women planting magical staves into the earth. It was obviously a magical ritual. <X> thinks that it was a malign ceremony, one that spells danger for all of Dragon Pass.

Consequences[]
- You can certainly trade with the merchant, but one probably should pay closer attention to the strangers.
- Divination may be the safest way to investigate, but the strange women have magic of their own. Remember, divination costs 1 magic! If successful, you learn that these women serve a powerful, possibly immortal being who lives in the Upland Marsh who commands legions of undead. You are then asked if you wish to seek out additional information, "Yes" or "No"? If Yes, you send out some scouts, though the land is likely to go bad while they are gone. The event Duck: Assistance Needed Against Undead is likely soon to follow.
- Scouts may find something of value, but there is greater danger here than general exploration.
- Bear in mind the women were doing a magic ritual, so it may behoove your clan to seek godly protection.
- Doing nothing is always an option, though you may lose some land or have other negative effects.

Whatever course of action you choose, the most likely result of this event is having some of your good land turn into swamp overnight.
If you send scouts, there are some divergent paths from this event, though it is random.
- Sometimes your party comes back...changed...as in Zombie Homecoming
- Sometimes you will come across Duck: Assistance Needed Against Undead.
- Sometimes your party find nothing.
This event comes about when Chaos/the undead grow unchecked.
