Ivory is one resource you may discover while exploring the bounds of your tula's lands.  Once ivory is discovered, you may set your crafters to make other goods from it.  Another clan may come and make an offer to take it off your hands.

Dialogue[]

On our recent exploration of the tula, we descended into a valley dense with thickets.  There is a large quantity of old bones and ivory teeth there, some buried, some exposed.  Surely our crafters could find some use for them.

Note:  You can only get the first or the alternate trade dialogue, not both.

Trade Dialogue[]

High-ranking members from the nearby <hunting clan> approach our tula.  "We hear that you have a store of ivory.  Those old teeth and horns are of some interest to us, and we want to trade for them," explains their leader, <Y>.  <Ring member> quietly reminds you that ivory is highly prized by the <hunting clan>, perhaps even sacred.

1.  Refuse them politely, but firmly.
2.  Let them fill three wagonloads with ivory, in exchange for # cattle.
3.  Offer to set up a trade agreement, instead, whereby they get first pick of the year's ivory gathering.

Alternate Trade Dialogue[]

<X>, an <Trading Clan> trader, arrives at our tula.  "Congratulations on finding a store of ivory!  Those old teeth and horns have some interest to a number of other clans, and we want to trade them for you," she explains.  "We'll save you the trouble of digging, cleaning and carving those musty things.  We'll even pay you 10 goods.  Imagine ~ a profit with no work on your part!"  <Ring Member> is trying very hard not to explode with laughter.
  1.   Refuse them politely, but firmly.
  2.   Let them fill a wagonload with ivory, in exchange for 40 cattle.
  3.   Offer to set up a trade agreement, instead, whereby they get first pick of the year's ivory gathering.

Consequences[]

The consequences are pretty much the same for both dialogues.

  • Refusal will allow you the maximum chance to trade your ivory, but it will lower your relations with the requesting clan.
  • Letting them fill their wagons will net you a good many cattle, but will reduce the amount of ivory you have.
  • Setting up a trade agreement is the middle option.  However, the other clan may change how much ivory they want.  If you have someone with high Bargaining, you are much more likely to get what you offered.
