The Knowing God told our priests and priestesses that [...] the dwarfs are everyone's enemies, because they want not only to stop everything from changing, but go back to the days before Orlanth's father Umath made a place for himself in the world.

King of Dragon Pass

The Dwarves, also known as the Mostali, or stone people, are the little men living under the world. The Orlanthi distrust them and encounters are oft less than friendly. Yet they are very much a part of the world and working on a less hostile relationship may prove quite beneficial.

Habitat[]

These little people live in the appropriately named Dwarf Valley, to the north of the Dragonewt Wilds.

Culture[]

They are mortal enemies of elves and trolls.  Dwarven society has a strong machine-like state of mind, but there are many who desire to keep their independence.

Lore[]

  • The dwarfs worship a dead god named Mostal.  They try to confuse people by saying that Mostal is not a god at all, but an idea called the World Machine.  -- Ring Member
  • The dwarf's dead god Mostal was foe to Orlanth, because Mostal hated change, and Orlanth is the son of change.  -- Ring Member
  • Legend has it that dwarfs consider generosity and trading to be heretical.  -- Ring Member

Weapons[]

The dwarfs fight not with the usual swords and bows the Orlanthi are accustomed to, they have evolved past that, and arm themselves with legendary weapons that shoot fire. Although the Orlanthi don't know this, these weapons are firearms and cannons.

More recognizable are the repeating crossbows.

Events[]

And if you piss the dwarfs off too much, they will come to warn you. Beware the stout folk's wrath!
