Performing rituals and sacrifices to receive blessings are a vital part of an Orlanthi clan's life. Although the gods cannot interfere physically in the lives of mortals, they can and will provide many powerful boons to their worshipers.
Learning the Rituals[]
It has been ages since the gods walked the earth alongside the mortals, and the proper rituals of worship have long since been forgotten. Your clan will need to sacrifice to learn each god's mysteries anew.
To do this, simply go to the magic screen (), select the god, "Mysteries", then choose the amount of cows or goods you wish to sacrifice.
Sacrificing does not use up any magic points, but it does take up 1 turn, and, of course, whatever you decided to sacrifice.
Receiving Blessings[]
In order to get into the good graces of one of the gods, and receive their blessings, you must:
- Sacrifice goods or cows to the god in question
- Perform their heroquest
Temporary Blessings[]
More often than not, you will want to sacrifice to get a particular blessing, for a short period of time. If your clan knows the ritual, you can sacrifice directly to get that blessing, by selecting it instead of mysteries. Temporary blessings last 1 year (from the time you sacrificed for it).
Permanent Blessings[]
In order to have a blessing constantly active, you will need to build a shrine (or temple, to have several permanant blessings) to the god. Shrines support 1 permanent blessing, Temples 2, and Great Temples 3. Beware, you will not only have to pay up front to get the temple, there is also an annual maintenance cost!
